To help make business more resilient in an ever more uncertain world, we have created a new, not-for-profit initiative, Resilience First. As you know, we have operated an influential security and resilience network for more than a decade. Our view is that critical mass and resource is now needed to deliver real change in business resilience.
The UK has experienced a year of intense damage to its urban fabric, with threats including: five terrorist attacks, four in London alone, the Grenfell Tower fire, cyber-attacks like NotPetya and local flooding. The risk of disruption continues at pace, and highlights the need for proportionate intervention from business throughout the country.
As an independent operation, Resilience First will offer a bottom-up approach and create a solid base of business community resilience for national approaches to build on.
The initiative will be led by Mike Rooney, our former COO as chief executive and Robert Hall, who was our Security and Resilience network’s executive director. The Resilience First board will be chaired by Simon Collins, who until recently was chairman of KPMG.
As well as London First, Resilience First is backed by leading businesses including Barclays, Tesco, UK Power Networks, Facebook, MMI Engineering, Heathrow and Stansted airports, together with the members of our previous network.
I am delighted to let you know that for the first year of its operation London First members will be included free of charge, and from 1 June 2019 at a discounted membership rate of £2,500.
Resilience First has developed a strong programme of work streams, events and tools to help grow your organisation’s resilience. These benefits together with more background details, contacts and governance can be found on the Resilience First website.
I hope you will find this a valuable addition to your London First membership, I know the Resilience First team is looking forward to engaging with you.
